An example of EARLY SUPPLIER INVOLVEMENT

This box was the second generation cell station, and was molded by using the Structural Foam Process. We were brought into this project very early by our customer because they had a very aggressive time line to have this program in production. We actually saw the very first concepts of the program, which amounted to only sketches, in mid January. Through a series of face-to-face meetings over the next few weeks, the project was released for tooling in late February. We set up weekly conference calls between the customer and supplier and completed the three steel tools in late May. By being called in early and made a part of the customer's design team, we were able to help the customer redesign the mounting bracket, which saved them over $36,000 in tooling costs. The cost savings were nice, but the customer was most impressed with the tools being delivered in late May, thus allowing us to mold parts for their presentation to their customer the second week in June.
